PREP - YEAR 2 STAY LATE

By Timothy Sugumar (Year 2 Teacher)

On Friday 7th October, the Prep to Year 2 classes had our stay late event. Students were super excited to stay back after school, join in with fun activities, eat some yummy food, and for our Year 2’s, watch a movie and stay overnight!

After the Year 2’s set up their beds and sleeping quarters in the DC, we all headed out to the junior basketball courts for a little afternoon snack to regain our energy. From here, it was all about the fun activities!

We learnt circus tricks, new dance moves, and even Mr. Davidson came down to play some games with us. We said goodbye to our friends in prep before one of the most exciting parts of the night. Pizza and Icy Poles. After smashing through this, we again said goodbye, this time to the grade 1’s. It was now for the main event!

After heading down to the DC and getting changed into our PJ’s, we grabbed our favourite pillow and stuffed toy, and settled in for the movie. It was hilarious! Sadly, we then had to hit the hay. Although we found it tricky to fall asleep (we were so excited by having all our friends around us!), we soon were and enjoyed dreaming of staying at school forever!

It wasn’t long before we were all up again at 6am ready for breakfast. We enjoyed sitting together and eating before rolling up all of those sleeping bags and cleaning up.

Mr Sugumar and Mrs Russon were so happy to see those parents arrive to take everyone home. We are so proud of you all for being brave and staying overnight!

Hamish H - It was awesome to have pizza for dinner, I had 2 slices of Hawaiian! We had lemonade icy poles for dessert and cereal and toast for breakfast.

Indie D - We spent the night in the DC, we watched a movie and had popcorn and lollies. The girls stayed up late because we were all talking and giggling.

YEAR 4 HEALESVILLE SANCTUARY

By Ugo Torcasio (Year 4 Teacher)

The Year 4 excursion to Healesville Sanctuary was a hit with students and staff.

This was our first excursion in 3 years. Amazing! The students were so excited about little things. The river moving beneath them, a koala asleep or simply being on a bus together. Students were enthralled at the conservation all around them, the endangered animals and the cute factor. Students developed questions such as what is the deadliest animal onsite? Does a Tree Kangaroo live in a tree? What is a Paddy Melon? We would like to thank our bus drivers and the parents who attended.

GETTING READY FOR PREP!

Our 2023 Preps and their parents came to visit on Wednesday, for their first taste of next year… PREP at BHCS! A few nervous little faces, but our amazing Prep Teachers and Learning Assistants made everyone feel welcome and at ease! The pre-Preps had so much fun reading, dancing, and playing games! They even went on a treasure hunt to find new things, meet friendly faces, and get to know their new school.
