Our School of Choice

You have no doubt seen the media coverage of the reaction to the change in school zones. I can understand concerns about the added distance children may have to travel to get to Underdale High School.

At times, the media coverage has portrayed Underdale High School as having an inferior standard of education. This is entirely unfair on our teachers, students and parents. We value the improvement in all of our children. In fact, trends show that our students are above state expected improvement averages in various indicators of learning (NAPLAN, PAT-R, PAT-M).

Just as important as grades and results, is the overall development of our young people. Our values of Resilience, Optimism, Courage and Knowledge are intrinsic to all that we do. We are a caring, inclusive community that provides opportunities for innovative, challenging and creative learning, valuing success and well-being for all.

This is the message we are continuing to get out into the community so they can have a true appreciation of the highly effective education our students experience. If you are as passionate about Underdale High School as our school community is, please take every opportunity to talk to anyone who will listen about us. It is about the community and employers having positive thoughts whenever they see children in an Underdale uniform.

Our Open Day is Monday 25th March. We have prospective Parent Tours at 9am, 4pm and 6pm. Please come along and find out more about our great school from our students, parents and teachers.
