LHS The Voice 2022
It has been a very busy start to Term 4 in the Music Department. We kicked off with the final of 'LHS The Voice’ which was held in the Theatre due to the wet weather.
With an overflowing audience of students from Years 7 to 12, De Pereira (Year 7), Taylah Mae Gundry (Year 9), Max Caulfield (Year 10), Ayla Harnett (Year 10), Charley Nugent (Year 12) and Darcey Garth (Year 12) presented outstanding performances!
The winner, by one point, was Max Caulfield with his rendition of Frank Sinatra’s ‘Come Fly With Me’.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the competition, particularly to our runner-up, Ayla Harnett who beautifully sang Katy Perry’s ‘Unconditionally’.
We look forward to the continued search for ‘The Voice’ in 2023!
Rehearsal Workshop
Students in our Stage Band and LHS Band participated in an intensive rehearsal workshop in preparation for the End of Year Concert. Rehearsals are usually held during lunchtimes each week, however with set-up and pack-up, actual playing time is only about 30 minutes.
The workshops were a fantastic opportunity for each band to go through all their pieces without the rush. Thanks to Mrs Ventura for running both of these.
Oh What a Night!
ENCORE 2022 was the Instrumental Music Department showcase for the year. Our 3 big Bands (Stage, LHS and Funk) presented some fabulous performances to family and friends, along with the Brass and Guitar Ensembles, Instrumental solos, Vocal duets and our Stage/LHS Combo Band.
Thank you to Mrs Ventura, Mr Kellock, Miss Wells, Kizzy and Frank for all your work with the students.
Congratulations to our Year 12 musicians who were awarded their dedication medallions; Valentina Aloysius, Charley Nugent, Heidi Graupner, Alesia Jensen, Ebony Leitch, Peter Paladino, Ash Heard and our Performing Arts Captains, Sian jones and Willow McConchie.
We thank all our Year 12 musicians who have demonstrated commitment and leadership throughout their schooling at Lilydale High School. We wish you well in your next adventure!
Congratulations
Recently, Year 12 student, Heidi Graupner participated in the annual Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Clarinet Mega Day.
Heidi participated in workshops and a masterclass with like-minded musicians, performing some incredible music culminating in a Clarinet Showcase Concert with Jose Franch-Ballaster, Eloise Fisher, Paul Champion, Philip Arkinstall and David Griffiths.
Well done, Heidi.
Hired Instruments
Looking forward to 2023, VCE students with hired instruments need to return these to the Library to be scanned out, then checked with Ms Goode in the PAC.
