Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh Program
As part of the Community Service project for the Duke of Edinburgh Program, students have decided to improve an unused area of the school and plant Indigenous plants.
Candlebark Nursery is a local nursery which propagates plants from our area. The staff at the nursery are volunteers and go into the local bush to collect seeds. Their goal is to help people help the environment by planting Indigenous vegetation.
They have kindly donated plants to the project and given lots of advice on how to get the plants to grow.
Candlebark Community Nursery has a good display of local Indigenous plants. Now is the time to plant and to plant local Indigenous plants!
The nursery is located on the corner of Taylor and Hull Road, Mooroolbark and is OPEN Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 12 pm.
Cody Huxley 9E
Year 9 Science
Students have been experimenting with Diet Coke and Mentos eruptions!
A Diet Coke and Mentos eruption (also known as a soda geyser) is a reaction between the carbonated beverage Diet Coke and Mentos mints that causes the beverage to be expelled from its container. The candies catalyze the release of gas from the beverage, which creates an eruption that pushes most of the liquid up and out of the bottle.
Tomorrow Man / Tomorrow Woman Workshop
Spots available for Year 10 Students
Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman are experiential workshops that explore tricky topics in a relatable way, to tackle the gender specific issues faced everyday.
These workshops are presented in a safe, non-judgmental environment that aims to build emotional muscle and allows for practicing the skill of talking about things of weight and emotional intensity. The program aims to build resilience, self-confidence and connectedness.
We have limited spots available for Year 10 students interested in participating in the November 22 sessions. The session is FREE to attend and runs during the school day.
If you would be interested to join in, please contact Rob Webb or Candice Richards in Student Services, or alternatively email studentservices@lilydalehs.vic.edu.au.
