Student Well-being
Community Spotlight: Year 1/2 Community
As we continue through Remote & Flexible Learning, we are focusing our wellbeing sessions in a direction that matches the needs of our students.
As teachers, we know that it is so important to be checking in with our students. By including a number of class 'check-ins’ across the week we have seen students using this time to engage with their peers and share common questions and concerns that surround their online learning program. It has also been an opportunity to have all sorts of fun!
For our 2 pm check-ins some of the activities have included:
- I spy
- Go Noodle/ Dance Session
- Students vs Teacher dance off
- Hangman
- Two truths and a lie
It has been wonderful to see students engage with each other in this way and with their teachers, and it's great to see positive and excited reactions to the Wellbeing Meets.
Brain Breaks!
Brain breaks during remote learning, can help to relieve frustration. They can also help kids learn to self-regulate and self-monitor when they’re getting fed up or losing track of what they’re doing. That’s especially helpful for kids with executive functioning issues. But it’s good for all kids to know how to refresh and refocus when home learning gets tough. A small interruption to have a brain break, can allow for more learning.
