Tournament of Minds

Congratulations to Sophie, Hayden, Connor, Bethany, Archer, Elisha, Daiah and Jarrod who participated in the Tournament of Minds Program this year. Like most things, it was structured very differently due to the latest lockdown and all meetings took place online. The students had five weeks to create and prepare a ten minute performance to a challenge. Rather than performing their solution in front of a panel of judges, the students performed online and it was recorded and sent to the judges.

The group could choose which challenge they could solve and they chose  Language/Literature - Reboot My Classic.

Challenge: Your team has reworked a classic story into a new context. You are now trying to build hype for the release of this reworked classic story through using a range of media. Use a range of promotional techniques (e.g. section of theme song, short clips, posters, exciting taglines or more) to gradually show key features of the plot, finally revealing the name of the classic you have used.

Literacy and Numeracy Week

Last week we took some time out to celebrate all things Literacy and Numeracy and boy  did we celebrate!

From Staff Storytime (if you haven't seen them, check out the Learning from Home site)to the Maths Interactive Library to our shared reading with our buddies, to our ‘Word of the Year’  competition to our partner writing activities to  the ‘Guess the Lollies in the Jar’ competition to Digital Literacy activities to the Maths in the home photos to  the fabulous multimodal texts that were created...it was go, go, go and a whole lot of fun!

Congratulations to the 92 students who  had a guess at the number of lollies in the jar.  The winner is....................... Evie (3/4TJ) with the correct guess of 56 lollies. Congratulations to Daiah  (5/6 EP) and Lexie (3/4 KC) who won second and third prize.

On Friday, our different world dress ups had everyone smiling. We had a range of amazing costumes from students and staff. Special mentions go to our colourful fish, Harry Potter and Hermione, our elves, Pippi Longstocking, Gerald the Giraffe, the Apprentice Ranger and Speedy Bee!! Thank you to the parents and students for your enthusiasm and creativity with costumes in trying times.

Thank you to all students, parents and staff for actively participating in all of our celebrations in Literacy and Numeracy week. Weeks like this are what make our vibrant school so very special...
