Whole School Production

St John’s Primary School Mitcham presents

DREAMS UNDER THE BIG TOP

DREAMS
DREAMS

Can I begin by saying what a fabulous job you are doing and continue to do online for your children in relation to the School Production. I have had a few online classes and the students are on task, happily dancing, reading scripts and overall engaged and enthusiastic about the Production, which comes from a shared effort of keeping the hope alive. Our Production date was set for Thursday 16 September in our school hall.  While the class items may only need polishing we have been unable to get costumes or props sorted in any way due to the closure of shops.

It is for this reason,  we have decided to begin planning for a movie production, think Hollywood like!!  The entire show will be filmed up close and personal like nothing ever done before.  We will continue to rehearse dances, sing the songs and practice the lines with the intention of filming the whole show so it can be edited and put together as a movie extraordinaire!!  I am so excited as this is a first for St John’s and will be forever a legacy to the times. We can film over 2 days if needed, using many venues across the school, including our amazing new playground and still use costumes, lighting and other special effects.

We will consider hosting a Red Carpet Premiere, complete with a large projector screen, picnic blankets and hopefully families gathering to watch it. Each class could even jump up and perform their dance live, maybe. Obviously this will depend on restrictions lifting and will also be later in the year, once the cooler weather has lifted.  These are all ideas at this stage and will depend on restrictions. At the very least, we will have a special 2021 movie production.

This is so exciting and will hopefully be a light at the end of the tunnel for all of us. Please continue to encourage your children to rehearse each of the dance items and the scripts. All can be found in the SJ Learning at Home site under Performing Arts or in Google Classroom.

Like our Circus theme of resilience and ‘keep on trying’ we will continue to persevere and keep going despite these tricky times. Thanks for your ongoing support.
