Sustainability

Many of you would be aware of the IPCC report released this week  regarding the need to take urgent action on climate change. The report says that within a decade, global warming could push temperatures to 1.5degrees.The United Nations has referred to the situation as a "code red for humanity". Sadly we are already seeing effects of climate change all over the world.

On a highly positive note our students are working at making a difference.

Rooms 2 and 3 have reduced their landfill dramatically. They now recycling paper, 10c containers, green waste and now soft plastics.

It was extremely encouraging to hear one of the students comment that she had set up a "soft plastics "recycle container for her grandma.

Our Room 14  are feeling very proud of themselves as they have begun their journey with their green waste reduction using the kitchen caddy .

Our senior students (Rooms 5 and 7) are participating in a Climate Ready Schools Program. This initiative challenges schools to carry out investigations into climate change adaptation and mitigation possibilities in their school.

And finally.... our staff and doing their bit and adapting to a bin shift. New learning for all of us.
