Technology and Applied Studies

Year 12 Design and Technology

The Year 12 Design and Technology class is getting ready to submit their Major Design Projects and associated folio. The journey for these students started in October 2020 when they were exploring their initial ideas for their Major Design Project.

This year’s cohort designed and developed a wide range of solutions in response to challenges, based upon personal experiences and motivations. The Showcase held at school was a great chance for students to receive feedback and make changes to their design and folio.

Their projects include:

  • Gissing Oval Baseball Field Redevelopment
  • Tipper Trailer
  • Dress
  • Updog Recycled clothing
  • Motorbike Lift
  • Reverse Smoker
  • Wind Tunnel
  • Arduino Mouse Trap
  • Drone Dropping Mechanism
  • Speed Map

The Design and Technology Major Design Project must include a development portfolio, which for most students is up to  80 pages of documentation. These folios are an impressive body of work and evidence that students are engaged in their work and motivated by the outcomes.

Students are looking forward to displaying their Major Design Projects for marking. Major works have to be onsite by Thursday 2 September (Week 8).

Agriculture

Year 12 Agriculture students have successfully completed their Trial HSC exam. Students will now spend their time on any identified areas for improvement and will continue working towards a deeper understanding of the course content in preparation for the HSC Exam in October. They are to be congratulated on their efforts so far and we wish them all the best in their final exam.
