Important Dates For Year 12’s Applying For Uni & TAFE

Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS): closed.
Scholarships: The VTAC scholarship process has closed. Students can apply for other scholarships however.
Applications: Students can still register for a VTAC account and apply for courses. Applications made before Friday 3rd Nov., 5pm, will cost $103.00 and applications made between Friday 3rd Nov, 5pm – Friday 8th Dec, 5pm, will cost $134.00.
Payment: The registration fee must be paid by Wednesday 1st Nov. to be considered for early offers or by Monday 18th Dec. for main round offers.
Personal Statement: Due by Friday 8th Dec. NOTE: These are only relevant for some courses.
Change of Preference: Applicants won’t be able to change their preferences between Saturday 4th Nov – Sunday 19th Nov.
VCE Results: Your VCE study scores, ATAR and VTAC Scaled Study Scores will be available to you via internet services. All current VCE students will receive a statement of VCE study scores from the VCAA. However, only students who have applied for courses through VTAC this year and have paid their VTAC processing fees will be sent an ATAR statement in the mail. Students are encouraged to contact Cros, Mr Bristol or any of the HL’s if they would like assistance understanding or thinking through their results.
How to access your results online: The VCE results and ATAR Service will be available from 7am, 15th Dec. to view your results online, log on to resultsandatar.vic.edu.au using your VCE student number and Results Service PIN. The default Results Service PIN is the first four digits of your birthdate, however you are strongly encouraged to change this prior to the release of results (see below). Results will be available online from mid-December. Note: The Results Service PIN is separate from your VTAC PIN. Protect your privacy—change your PIN
Change of Preference advice & support: We are running a C.O.P. BBQ on Monday 18th Dec, commencing at midday. Students are strongly encouraged to attend. Cros, Mr Bristol and the HL’s will be available to assist with change of preference advice and understanding results. Meanwhile each of the Universities and TAFEs also offer their own COP on campus or online to assist students. Details can be found on individual Uni websites or contact Cros for more info. Change of Preference closes on Wednesday 20th Dec. at 12 noon sharp.
Offers: Round 1 offers will be released 16th January. From there you will be able to change your preferences for future rounds.

AIE Trailer – Gaming, Programming and Design Taster

On Tuesday 31st Oct a group of our Year 9 & 10’s participated in a taster experience with Academy of Interactive Entertainment hosted by Shepparton High School for the Alliance. AIE’s ‘Airstream Trailer’ is fitted with state of the art technology including huge TVs, consoles as well at 10 Microsoft Surface Pro 4s, which are running industry standard software. Our students were able to try programming and spend time with professionals sharing their interest in gaming and design. The students loved the experience, with AIE showcasing the kinds of training experiences they may be able to get one day.

VET Taster Day @ GOTAFE – Construction Technology & Medical Procedures

Friday 24th November (For Years 9 & 10’s)

With support from the Career Educators Association of Victoria and funding from the State Government, GOTAFE are running an exciting Career Taster day at their Fryers Street campus. Open to Wanganui Park Year 9 and 10 students, the day will have two different foci – ‘Construction Technology’ and ‘Medical and Clinical Procedures’. Students will complete an activity in their chosen focus in the morning, lunch is being provided free of charge and then they will go into another activity in their chosen focus in the afternoon. The Construction activities will focus on Carpentry skills using the latest technology. The Medical and Clinical Procedures’ group will complete activities related to medical clinical procedures in the morning (simulating venipuncture, wound dressing, auscultation of body sounds, blood pressure) and in the afternoon simulating mixing antibiotics, giving injections, medication calculations and priming of an intravenous line. Students must see Mr. Crosbie ASAP to collect the necessary information and permission forms.

Scholarship For Year 12’s From A Farming Background:

The Francis Gregory Foundation is offering two scholarships for current Year 12 students who intend to study an undergraduate course at university in 2018. The scholarship provides $6000 per year for the term of the undergraduate study. The student must be from a farming family whose income derives from primary production.

Tuckwell Scholarship, Australia National University:

Applications for the Tuckwell Scholarship open to Year 12 students in March 2018 for the 2019 intake. The scholarship is worth approximately $22 000 per year for the length of the degree and is for community minded high achievers.
