Boarding

This week I am thrilled to announce the appointment of our new full time chef Robert McPhearson. Robert learnt his craft in Melbourne and comes to us with an abundance of experience. I’m sure he will continue to provide high quality meals that are both nutritious and tasty whilst at the same time satisfying the constant hunger of out boarders. Feeding 110 boarders each night cannot be an easy job.

At the same time, it will be sad to farewell Brett who has done an amazing job since he arrived. Brett and his family reside in Melbourne and I thank him for the sacrifices he has made to be our head chef in this interim period. He has provided beautiful food and his easy-going nature has been appreciated by myself and the entire boarding community. We wish Brett the best of luck for the arrival of his next child and for all that the future may hold.

We were lucky enough to have a sample of some Jazz music in assembly on Wednesday and I’m sure Tim Gilling and Alec Jagger will deliver more classy performances this weekend at "Generations in Jazz" at Mount Gambier.

Last Sunday we had 5 students and one Bec Gappie represent the boarders at the Hamilton Colour Run. By all accounts they had heaps of fun and I think they are still trying to wash off some of colouring. This event was for a great cause and as always I’m proud to see boarders taking part in community events.

The House Cross Country took place this week which was a great opportunity for our boarders to show off their athleticism, and they were well prepared thanks to the early morning boarders’ fitness sessions. There were too many great times to mention everyone, but special congratulations go to Claudia Roberts, Emily Johntson and Grace Austin who all placed highly in the girl’s event.

This weekend we are also offering a trip for Year 11s and 12s to Melbourne to attend the 2017 VCE and Careers Expo. Hopefully this will be beneficial for these boarders and they will have a great day.

Seth Fiegert kicked another goal for Hamilton Seniors last weekend meaning he has kicked a goal every game this season. He really is proving to be a young star on the rise and is looking to kick a bag this weekend!
