Mobile Phone - Student Use Policy
The Greensborough College Mobile Policy is in accordance with the Ministerial Policy issued by the Minister for Education under section 5.2.1 (2) (b) of the Education Reform Act 2006.
At all Victorian Government Schools, commencing in 2020, students will be required to store their mobile phones in their locker from the start of the school day until the final bell. When emergencies occur, parents can reach their son/daughter by calling the College.
Australian teenagers are spending 20 per cent of their waking hours on their phones. With so much of their lives spent plugged in, it can become difficult for them to switch off. We believe this important change will have a positive impact on student learning. With mental health issues at an all-time high, promoting social interactions is more important than ever before.
The updated Mobile Phone Student Use Policy can be found on the College website.
We are looking forward to partnering with parents to successfully implement this change and we believe it will assist our students in their efforts to achieve a life balance in today’s digital environment.
Should you have any questions regarding the policy, please contact your child’s Year Level Leader or the Assistant Principal.
