Associate Principal, Operations Report

Year 11 & 12 (2020) Subject Selection Forms
A reminder to all Year 11 & 12 (2020) students that their Subject Selection forms were due last Friday. If you have not returned your form can you please return by Tuesday 25 June at the latest.
Student/Parent/Teacher Interviews
The next Senior Campus Parent/Teacher/Student meetings for the year, as previously notified in calendars, will be held for Years 7 – 12 in the afternoon and early evening of Monday 15 July. Interviews are held in the Middle Years Positive Education Centre and, for Year 10 parents, a Morrisby Information Session will occur during the break at 5.15pm.
Parents are invited to make a booking to see teachers at these interviews. Bookings can be made on-line through the Parent Access Module (PAM). In addition, teachers who wish to see parents to discuss the progress of their children will provide notification of a time set aside through the student Record Book. Parents can respond to, and amend if necessary, the bookings made by teachers through PAM.
Please note that we expect that students will attend these interviews with their parents.
End of Term and Holidays
It was good to welcome a number of potential, new and existing students to the VIBE Festival on Wednesday. Many thanks to Mrs Julia Winter Cooke, Mrs Alana Brown, Mrs Susie Holcombe and Mrs Ashlyn Hiscock for their preparatory work and to all staff who provided additional sessions. It was lovely to see Leyland Jones here too – having been unwell in Central Australia, it was pleasing to see he had made a full recovery. We hope all our visitors, whether from Myrniong or farther afield, enjoyed their day and we hope to see them all here next year. Olive: we hope your finger is better!
We are looking forward to welcoming back the Year 10s as the week ends and to hearing all the stories with which they will return. The photographs which have been circulated certainly show them to be having a great time. What opportunities! What a change, too, in the weather from the Flinders Ranges for Group Two!
I will be in Shepparton with the ICCES Winter Tour group at the end of this week. We have hockey, basketball and netball teams representing us against other non-metropolitan schools and we are looking forward to the challenges each game will bring. Thanks to Mrs Silva, Old Collegian Sophie Delahoy, Mrs Lyndal Delahoy and Basketball coach Mr Daniel Winnell for travelling also to support our teams.
On Wednesday, Year 11 students from Laidlaw House led the Service. Focusing on the theme of ‘resilience” they gave us several strong messages about the need to get off the floor when we are knocked down and we had a great deal of fun too, dancing along to the “Rocky” theme. Thanks Harrison!
The conclusion of the Service provided the School with the opportunity to thank Ms Elisha Nettleton for her contributions in a range of areas before her move, with family, to Melbourne. Appropriately, given Ms Nettleton’s role as Head of Rowing for the past two years, the Rowing Captains spoke particularly warmly of her efforts on their behalf. We wish Ms Nettleton and her family well as they relocate and look forward to welcoming her back for the visits she promised to make.
I hope all school families can enjoy the next three and a bit weeks. For senior students, I hope there can be plenty of work done to ensure Term Three is commenced from a position of strength and not one requiring catching up. Year 12 students do need to spend a good part of the “holiday” (two-thirds?) with their books and notes.
I would ask all parents to ensure that their sons and daughters return to school with uniform in good condition – and complete – and with hair and other aspects of grooming attended to. We do pride ourselves on the appearance of our students when in uniform and it only takes a small number to tarnish the way all of us are seen. Your assistance is greatly appreciated in this matter.
