 Principal's Report

As the last newsletter for term goes to print, I am on a plane returning from Yulara, Central Australia.  Year 10s thirteen day adventure to the centre of Australia has provided all students with an opportunity to discover their nation’s heritage and reflect on their own identities.  As staff, we witnessed true growth in each and every child and it was a privilege to share quality time with such fine young people. This trip proves to be a incredible chance for ‘direct experience’ where the problem solving, creativity and collaborations skills taught at school suddenly come to prominence as they face different real life challenges and obstacles. I do wish to thank every family who enabled this trip to happen and acknowledge the enormous contribution of Mr Leigh Alexander, Mrs Louise Williams, Mr Ralph Carolan, Mrs Nerrida Prosser, Ms Amanda te Boekhorst, Mr Paul Carroll, Mrs Rachel Vallance and Mr Nick Dopheide plus the wonderfully experienced Auscamp staff. The children certainly embraced every moment of every day and were truly a credit to their families and school.

Please find attached to this newsletter a National information notice regarding the government requirements relating to School Students with Disability. From 2018 the Commonwealth’s students with disability funding loading for schools is based on the national data collection.  Every school in Australia is, by law, required to submit these student numbers to the Commonwealth Government in August.  No individual student will be identified in the data sent. The College continues to apply the data collection process explained in this document.  Staff will continue to receive professional learning in this area and relevant parents will be consulted throughout the year as this process unfolds.

Finally, I wish all families a restful and enjoyable mid-year break and look forward to your return on Tuesday 16 July 2019.

Dr Andrew Hirst
