Boarding

I was extremely proud of all the boarders who performed in ‘Mary Poppins’ last week and over the weekend. They put on a spectacular performance which was thoroughly enjoyable by everyone who attended. Special mentions to Bridie Kelly, Claude Roberts, Georgia Hodgetts and Tim Gilling whose performances were flawless. They were very well supported by Chloe Russell, Grace Austin, Lily McCure, Georgie Snodgrass, Ned Mcarthur, Tom Hirst, and Juliet Page. Alec Jagger played percussion as a member of the orchestra and delivered polished performances each night. Zoe Rudge played an integral role as a member of the stage crew and Izzy Azzopardi was in charge of make up. They were all exhausted (grumpy) on Sunday but this was because they all gave their heart and soul to the show.

This hockey season there have been two College A Grade teams which means that boarders have had to go against their natural instincts to battle it out against each other. It was fantastic to see them come together again to take on Geelong College on Saturday and with a 10 – 0 score line.

Congratulations to Jerry Wu for taking out the Men’s Singles Table Tennis Competition and also to Fitzy Maclean and Jono Lee on their Table Tennis presentation at assembly on Wednesday.

Wellness Week has lived up to all expectations and hype again this year. Boarders are writing compliments like crazy and I look forward to everyone opening their envelopes on Friday morning on the walk to school. Only one boarder has been caught writing compliments for themselves, and Tom Verco should be commended for realising the importance of positive self-talk. Christine Woods won the inaugural Basketball Sharp Shooter Competition and there have been games each night before dinner. On Thursday night we will focus on mental wellbeing with yoga and meditation in the dining hall. On top of this we also had a hot lunch on Thursdayand we reintroduced boarder of the week. Wellness Week is a fantastic initiative and hopefully all boarders have enjoyed it as much as I have.

Due to lack of interest for the AFL match in Melbourne on Sunday we are now considering an alternative trip to the Melbourne University Open Day on Sunday with some shopping included.
