Year 2 Assembly

Wednesday August 30th sees the Year Two class present their 2017 Class Assembly.  Whisper has it that we will be visiting the Zuckerberg’s farm for a tale about a pig and a spider.

Junior School Art Exhibition

Make a note in your diaries to visit the Junior School on Wednesday August 22nd for the opening of the 2017 Art Exhibition.  Mrs Cameron and the Junior School students have been working hard to prepare pieces to showcase to families and guests.  It will be opened in the Art Room at 3.45 pm and be accessible until 5.00pm on Friday August 24th.  The theme for this year is ‘Ceramic Vessels’.  Thank you to Mrs Cameron for the incredible work she has put into our vibrant Art programme.

Book Week

Next week the Junior School will celebrate ‘Book Week’.  Along with tailored Library lessons with Mrs Cameron, the students will be able to dress up on Friday August 25th as their favourite character from a book. There will be prizes for the most creative costume in each class.  Rumour has it that Junior School staff will be following the lead of our talented Senior Campus students and adopt a ‘Mary Poppins’ theme.

Wellness Week

Thank you to Mrs Milich and the Kids Matter/Red Cross team who have been providing a plethora of activities to celebrate ‘Wellness Week’.  We have had a disco, enjoyed motivational quotes, participated in yoga classes and enjoyed hand massages and photos with friends.  Thank you also to Mrs Kelly, Mrs Milich and the students in Berry and Young Houses for the House Service on Wednesday.  Their theme of ‘Kindness’ was well received.

Walk to School

On Friday the 11th of August the Junior School and Piccino students enjoyed the opportunity to participate in ‘Walk to School’ day as part of the Victorian Health initiative.  This great initiative aims to increase the physical activity in young people, encouraging them to get out in the fresh air, learn healthy habits, and work towards the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day.  With thanks to the Junior School Representative Council, both staff and students alike enjoyed the opportunity to arrive at school with the fresh air in our lungs and motivation to start the day.

After meeting at the Neil Maclean Hockey Field bright and early alongside Dr Hirst, Mr Nelson and teaching staff, we all embarked on the 1.8km walk to the picturesque Myrniong.  Using statistics, 90 students walked 5000 steps and met half of their recommended daily steps count along with 30 minutes’ worth of physical activity, all before 9:30 am.

Thanks to all the parents, ‘pets’, and staff for joining us for our walk.
