Year 9 English

Book buying @ Readings
by Emily Nancarrow and Clare Coman, teachers of Year 9 English
On the fine morning of Wednesday 2 May, Year 9 students commenced their day at Readings in Hawthorn. They were given the opportunity to browse the shelves and purchase a fiction title to study for the duration of the term, after which they will undertake a text analysis on a book of their choice.
Readings staffer - Alistair, who is a particularly keen reader - delivered a quick introduction outlining a number of popular YA Fiction books as well as some personal favourites.
Our students were punctual and conducted themselves in a highly mature manner. They demonstrated utmost respect for the space, the Readings staff and to each other... and the fabulous array of books sparked some very impressive conversations and story sharing.
