Principal's Report

Supporting the School

One of the many reasons that many families decide to enrol at Upper Ferntree Gully Primary School is our small school and the sense of community. This sense of community grows out of the relationships between the school and the parents.

However, we are always looking for parents who are willing to take on various roles within the school which contribute to this sense of community.

I would urge all parents to consider what they can do to support the school this year.

There are many ways you can assist:

  • Assisting at school as a parent helper for PMP or reading
  • Attending working bees
  • Being part of the School Council
  • Help at excursions and camps
  • Joining the Parents and Friends Association and assisting with fundraising and school social events.
  • We are looking for members to join the PFA Some of the things that the PFA are responsible for include:
  • Fundraising which might include events such as Bunnings or election day BBQ’s, bulbs, hot cross buns,  raffles
  • School events which might include events such as Education Week BBQ
  • Childrens events which might include events such as Mothers Day stall, Fathers Day stall, kids disco, footy day and morning munchies.

The PFA AGM is this Wednesday night in the staff room at 7pm. Meetings are generally held twice a term on Wednesday evenings. Please think about how you might be able to be involved. It would be wonderful if every family contributed in some way to the school. Please consider what you can to do in 2020.

Family Night

Just a reminder that February the 28th is Family night. We are hoping for good weather as we will be visiting the outdoor cinema and watching 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. Please RSVP to the school email address so we can get an idea of numbers as it only holds a certain amount of people.

Bunnings BBQ

Please email the school if you can help out at the Bunnings BBQ on March 29th. Anytime from 8am to 5:30pm and even if its half an hour we'd love the help. This is a great fundraiser for our school. We are eager to replace the basketball backboards into ones that are more weather resistant.

Grade 6 Polo Assembly

We will be presenting our year 6 polo tops at assembly on Monday 2nd March. Assembly begins at 2:45pm. If you get the chance please come along.

School, District and Division swimming

The house swimming carnival was a great success. The weather held out long enough to complete all of the events and have a quick novelty race. Our swimmers had a successful District event on Friday it was great to see them all trying their best. We have 8 swimmers heading off to Division on Friday and we wish them all the best.

School Council

School council nominations are open please see the office for more details.

Have a great week everyone.
