Early Learning Centre

Hot, Hot, Hot at the Early Learning Centre for the first three weeks of Term 1.

This is one of the reasons that we have had many water play activities.  Water not only cools, it calms as well.  On exceptionally hot days we will flip the timetable and do our outdoor activities first thing in the morning.

We have had canals, rivers and boats in the sandpit, water in the trough to enable access for the mud kitchen and cooking, hoses watering our garden, washing the baby clothes and even on one very hot day, cooling the children down with the hose (to squeals of delight).

All rooms have begun the Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum with the Focus Area of 'the Right to be Safe'.  Many discussions and activities have taken place around 'feelings and ways to express emotions'. This will move onto exploration of the concepts of safe, unsafe and emergencies leading to the development of understanding of warning signs.  Keep an eye out for more Information on the program coming home this week.

We have had quite a few staff changes during the last few weeks.  Consistent and stable staffing is a goal we aim for in the Early Learning Centre.  Please be assured we will endeavour to maintain constant staffing personnel as much as possible.

We welcome back Ben Martin who is an old scholar of Blackfriars and is exploring the possibilities of a career in early childhood.  Ben joins us each Wednesday.
