Mathematics

During this term, many of our high achieving mathematics students across both the Primary and Secondary schools sat the Australian Mathematics Competition.  As school-based maths competitions go, they don’t get much bigger than this—with more than 15 million entries since 1978 and students in more than 30 countries attempting the same problems each year.

The competition focuses on problem-solving style questions, where students need to think logically and rationally to solve questions set in unfamiliar contexts.  This year, the results at Blackfriars were possibly our strongest ever with many students across the school achieving awards.
