Performance at Farmers Market

The BNPS Junior Choir did an amazing job last Saturday at the Farmers Market. Only a small number from our usual group of 60 were able to attend but they sang beautifully and confidently. The choir sang a repertoire of eight songs and finished up with ‘Feel the Beat’, that had the crowd clapping and joining in!

Thank you, parents, for bringing your children out on a Saturday to sing. The students have worked hard this year and we’re sure they enjoyed the experience of performing as much you enjoyed watching them. Please enjoy the videos below!

Well done from the Music Team!

Remembrance Day Ceremony Performance

We are extremely proud of the Seahorse Singers who sang beautifully at the BNPS Remembrance Day Ceremony on Monday 11 November. Please enjoy the video of their performance 'Peaceful'.

A Special Visitor

On Tuesday (12 November), we were privileged to welcome Susie Davies-Splitter to our school. Susie is an internationally renowned singer/song-writer and Music educator with many years of experience. As part of her Professional Development, she came to see how we integrate the PYP into our Music programs and was able to observe a variety of lessons throughout the day, as well as both choirs.

A highlight of her visit was the chance for our Senior Choir students to sing a song Susie has co-composed called 'Dinky Di Aussie'. Susie gave the students a very positive report and was happy to answer the perceptive questions they put to her.

One example was the query about how she felt while waiting to find out whether or not people liked her music. She answered by saying 'you have to be a risk-taker in life and be prepared for the fact that there will always be people who don’t like your work – and that’s okay'.

Susie was very impressed by the support for, and the strength of, the Music program at BNPS. We all feel grateful for the opportunities for participation in music making that are available at our school.

Our New Electronic Keyboard

We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to Sebastian Balbi (BNPS IT Manager) for donating this fabulous electronic keyboard to the Music department.

Another great addition to our wonderful range of instruments.
