Year 1 & 2 Taiko Drumming

Year 1 and 2 students enjoyed a TAIKO drumming incursion. TAIKO are Japanese drums and have been played for more than 100 years in Japan!

Mr Toshi demonstrated a TAIKO performance and our students played the drums. They formed a band and played other traditional instruments. They learned how to count from 1 - 8 and say a big drum and a small drum in Japanese. TAIKO WA TANOSHE! (Playing the TAIKO is fun!)

Year 3 & 4 Manga Drawing

Year 3 and 4 students had a MANGA drawing incursion and they have learnt that manga is an important part of Japanese pop culture. MANGA is a Japanese style animation such as ASTRO BOY, POKEMON and HELLO KITTY, which is very popular among not only children but also adults. Kenny sensei showed our children how to draw MANGA style body parts (they also learned how to say some body parts in Japanese), and they enjoyed drawing their own MANGA characters! MANGA is OH-MO-SHE-LOY (interesting)!
