FROM THE PRINCIPAL

TERM 3 - WEEK 8
To the St Nicholas School Community
COLOUR RUN
It is with great anticipation that we look towards this Friday’s Colour Run. What an amazing community event where we promote an active and healthy lifestyle. I sincerely thank the PT&F for their tireless coordination of what promises to be a wonderful event. I also acknowledge and thank all parents and families for supporting this event.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon from 5.00pm.
NAPLAN 2019
This week NAPLAN results for 2019 went live for schools. At St Nicholas School we can be proud of aspects of the results, however they also indicate why the 2019 Annual Improvement Plan has placed such a major emphasis on implementing a quality literacy block. The demand for improvement in the implementation of our English pedagogy will continue in 2020.
In coming weeks I will share with you a deeper analysis of our results.
SCHOOL BORE
After considerable planning and paperwork, on Saturday Tamworth Drilling were on site to drill a bore for the school. It is with a heavy heart I announce the drilling was not successful. After 200 feet, the drill was abandoned due to no Peel Valley Rock being discovered. To access water, the drilling must bore through the Peel Valley Rock. We now, like so many of our farmers, are at the mercy of the heavens.
ENGAGING INITIATIVES
Initiatives keep coming at St Nicholas School. Playing a simple role to support the environment, next week (Week 9) is No Wrapper Week. We ask all families to help support this simple way of controlling waste which fails to decompose. Just a reminder that No Wrapper Week is next week - Week 9.
In week 10 we look forward to our annual Spelling Bee. This is another way of engaging our children in the skill of spelling in a fun way. It is also an opportunity to celebrate and congratulate our students who have worked diligently on their spelling.
Thank you to Mrs Dickie and our student voice (the SRC) for being the driving force behind these initiatives.
Have a wonderful week.
John Clery
