Book Parade - 22 August

Date: Thursday 22 August 2019

Time: 9.30am ~ Parents/visitors welcome!

Place: Sherril’s Shed

As advertised on Compass last week, to celebrate Book Week, we are having a Book Parade. In keeping with this year’s Book Week theme, ‘Reading is My Secret Power!’, it is expected that children and staff will come to school dressed up as a ‘Super character’.

Students may like to dress up as themselves e.g. ‘Super Sam’ or a made up character with a cape to match their outfit perhaps. They could carry or attach their name and secret power/s (that reading gives them) to their outfit. Please discuss secret powers with your child/ren e.g. imagine, learn facts, meet characters/friends, read someone’s mind, write stories, visit another place etc.

Students may wear their outfit for the whole day if practical, if not, school uniform is required.

Classroom Activities

During Library Lessons, Prep, Year One and Year Two will be discussing the secret powers reading gives them and some of the Children’s Book Council short listed books. Other year levels will be given the opportunity to do activities relating to these books and the ‘Secret Powers’ theme.
