Year 10 Social

Dresses bought and appointments made. After a long 24 weeks of school, the Year 10 social is finally here. The Middle School and SRC leaders of Year 10 have been working hard, holding meetings throughout the year to book a DJ, photo booth, security guards, balloons and lots more to put together a night to remember. 'Starry Night' was voted on as the theme for this year's dance that is to take place this Friday 3 August from 7.30 to 10.30pm, in the Nina Carr Centre. Students bought tickets for themselves and their dates tickets last week for $20 each. Everything is all set for the big night!

Junior School Leadership

Derinsu Bulut (Year 7), Izzy Donat (Year 8), Cassidy Jackson (Year 8) and Giselle Ciurej (Year 7) will be attending the Victorian SRC Student Voice Workshop at Mornington Secondary College later this month. They will take part in a variety of activities with students form many schools, designed to build confidence, teamwork and independence.  Students who attend these events can take back what they have learnt to the rest of the student leaders. This workshop follows on from one attended by four Year 9 and 10 students earlier in the year.

Model United Nations Conference (MUNC) at Mentone Grammar

The following students will be representing MGSC at the upcoming Model UN conference forming two teams representing Vanuatu and Afghanistan. Earlier this year, Samantha Cattermole and Dessy Turk (Year 11) represented Egypt at MUNA held at Parliament House and run by Rotary. It is great to see the increasing interest in participating in this type of event and it is a fantastic opportunity for students to expand their global knowledge and understanding while working with students from many schools across Melbourne. Our students will prepare as two separate teams and come together prior to the event to practise presenting their country's position on the resolutions presented.

Vanuatu - Lily Hernan, Megan Blignaut and Beth Tedstone

Afghanistan - Nazanin Jalali, Sinead Garry, Grace Lawson and Katie Barnshaw
