Women in STEM and Entrepreneurship (WISE) Program
This program, organised by Monash University, aims to support and nurture an entrepreneurial mindset in this evolving area in the next generation of women. Monash University has invited schools to nominate a team of four year 10 female students and we are thrilled that four of our students: Emily Vincent (Left), Sayako Kaburagi(sitting), Afifah(Ifa) Ningrum(right) and Lilit Dabagyan (not in picture) have been selected for this program.
The program will be delivered in three stages:
‘Internet of Things’ workshop
Up to 500 students (125 teams) will attend a one-day workshop during May and June 2019 and our SOC students will attend on 1 June 2019. Each team would be allocated a mentor and participants will learn about connected technology and the 'Internet of Things', develop hands-on skills in IT coding using the micro bit device and discover how to develop and pitch an entrepreneurial idea.
Entrepreneurial workshop
At the conclusion of the Stage 1 workshops, a judging panel will select up to ten teams to attend a bespoke entrepreneurial workshop in September 2019, designed to instil an entrepreneurial mindset and train participants in how to turn their concepts into an economically sustainable product.
Trip to Silicon Valley
In the final stage, two successful teams will win an immersive entrepreneurial experience to Silicon Valley, California, USA - the global centre of technological innovation!
