Australian Geography Competition 2019

Students from South Oakleigh College took part in the 25th annual Australian Geography Competition. Over 65,000 students from around Australia entered the Competition, a join initiative of the Australian Geography Teacher’s Association and the Royal Geography Society of Queensland.

Competition Coordinator Bernard Fitzpatrick said the competition challenges students whilst providing teachers with the opportunity to highlight geography in their classes. In the past, South Oakleigh College have had several students awarded high distinctions at the competition.

Year 11 students from Victoria will be selected to take part in Geography’s Big Week Out, being held on Kangaroo Island, South Australia later this year. An Australian team will then be chosen for the 2020 International Geography Olympiad being held in Istanbul, Turkey.
