News from the Garden
After a long, hot and dry summer there has been plenty of action in the garden at SOC.
Students have assisted with planting native shrubs and grasses near the school’s front entrance and, more recently, outside the science classrooms.
These plantings will not only enhance the general appearance of the school but also attract insect and birdlife into the grounds.
Year 9 students enjoyed working outdoors, learning about the benefits of creating a garden, and practicing correct planting techniques.
SOC will be involved in the 'Schools Tree Day'. This annual event, held at the end of July, aims to promote environmental awareness among school communities. Students will have the opportunity to plant trees within the school grounds and be involved in their ongoing care, such as watering and mulching.
