Interschool Sport

Last week our Blue Team played against Ringwood North PS and the Red Team  played against Heathmont East PS.  Well done again to all the teams for doing their best.  Special congratulations to the Girls Teeball team for teaching Ringwood Nth Girls how to play and share their  fielding tactics.  Some of our girls swapped teams to help R./Nth score as it was very one sided till ¾ time.  This week the Blue Teams play against Antonio Park and the Red Teams play against Holy Spirit.  This is the last week for the Summer round.  Thank you very much for Lennie Pennicott for looking after the Girls Basketball team,  Mel ( Miss Fraser's friend ) for coaching the Red Boys Basketball team, Leonie Ortlip for assisting with the  Red Hot Shots Team, Jimmy Parker ( ex CHPS student ) for assisting with the Blue Hot Shots Team, Tyler Robinson ( ex CHPS student) for coaching the Blue Boys Basketball Team, James Annesley coaching the Blue Girls Cricket Team, Jenny Barr coaching the Red Girls Cricket Team, Josh (ex R/Nth student) for coaching the Blue Boys Teeball Team, Mel Donald for coaching the Red Girls Teeball Team for 4 weeks and Milan’s mum Kimberley for taking over.  Thanks to Mel Gilmore for taking over in the absence of a Teeball coach for a week and Bailey Cyster (ex-Student) for jumping in and coaching the Girls Basketball and Blue Hot Shots teams when the coaches were absent.   We have really appreciated the assistance of so many of our parents and ex-students for helping out with our enormous cohort.

Next term, we will be running 2 Football teams, 2 Soccer teams, 2 Volleybounce teams, 2 Hot Shot teams, 4 Softball teams and 6 Netball teams.  We will once again require the assistance of many parents to help with coaching / supervising the teams, as we again have 18 teams to look after with only 8 staff. One staff member will be looking after the Friday Fun Group, who will next term be playing some sports games with Good Shepherd, as they also have a small cohort of year 5s who are not participating in the Interschool Sports competition.  If you are able to help out with one of our many teams, please let the school know so that we can start organising this now.  We would really really appreciate this.

Middle School House Athletics Sports

Next Wednesday April 3rd, all the Year 3 / 4 students will be participating in lots of events at the Ringwood Athletics Track.  Buses will leave at 9.00am and hope to be there and start the races by 9.40am.    This is a compulsory part of the PE curriculum, so please consent and pay on Compass now if you have not already done so.

Once again we thank those parents who have volunteered to help out for the day.  We still need many parents / grandparents  for the starting and finishing line.  If you are able to assist on the day, please email me or your child’s teacher.  Once again we would really appreciate as much help as we can get.  We can’t run the day without hands on assistance.  I am still looking for at least another 10 adults to assist.

Team Vic Cricket Trials

Congratulations to Kane W, Jack P and Xanda B who were selected to trial for the Team Vic Cricket Team.  The boys competed last week at the District level and congratulations to Jack and Xanda who made it through to the Division final. There are so many boys form all over Victoria trialling for the Cricket Squad.  This is such a great achievement by the boys.  Well done!

Junior School Council 2019

Meet our 2019 Junior School Councilors. At CHPS, we are so proud of the opportunities available to our students. With opportunity, also comes leadership, responsibility and student voice. The decision was reached last year that student voice was important to our school and should be reflected across the year levels, rather than just in our senior years. As a result, this year our JSC students are representatives chosen from every class in the school (except for Prep students, who still have a School Captain as their JSC representative).  The process differed from each class and level; many JSC representatives presented speeches and classes voted in order to elect the most suitable candidate. This term, we have had 3 meetings to discuss upcoming events within the school and also to hear suggestions brought forward by each class. Next term, we will have several JSC students represent our students at School council, as many have expressed eagerness to volunteer.

FREE DRESS DAY

Our first JSC initiative this term will be a free dress day on the last day of term. As has been done many times in the past, we will be supporting the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal and ask students to bring along a gold coin donation if they are wearing free dress. This is a charity very close to many of our JSC representatives’ hearts and we are looking forward to raising money for a worthy and important cause.

GRIP CONFERENCE

Several weeks ago, our School Captains and Mrs. Kitching were fortunate enough to attend the GRIP leadership conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The students were joined by thousands of other primary school student leaders and came away from the day quite inspired and full of ideas. Throughout the day, they learnt about the importance of CORE values (Confidence with humility, Others focused, Reliability and Empathy), which are so crucial in roles of leadership, many of which reflected our own CHPS school values.

RCH Appeal - Free Dress Friday 5/4

On Friday April 5th the

Junior School Council is promoting the Good Friday Appeal

On the last day of term, students are encouraged to wear free dress to school to support the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Please bring a gold coin donation to support this worthy cause.

The money goes towards a very worthy cause, raising funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital. Every year, thousands of children are admitted to The Royal Children’s Hospital, as well as those children treated in emergency. The Royal Children Hospital relies heavily on donations, so please dig deep and support the cause!
