But there's still more!!!

Maegan donates her hair to Variety

Hey Everyone,

My name is Maegan Carroll and I have decided to shave my head. You may be wondering why?

I’ve decided to donate my hair to a charity called Variety, which is a foundation that raises money and makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to multiple, different medical conditions and I’m hoping to make a little kid happy by providing them with new hair.

I have also decided to do this because I lost my father when I was 4 years old due to cancer and I have always wanted to contribute to the cause by helping those overcome their illnesses.  I have put myself in their shoes to see what it feels like to have no hair.

Also, next year I am going to be the Youth Ambassador for Cowra High School for the Festival of International Understanding.  I have chosen to fundraise for Variety with money going towards research and medical funds for these children in early 2019.

YES Program

Last Friday Cowra High students that have been involved with the Youth Engagement Strategy (YES) at Cowra TAFE received certificates following the conclusion of the eight week program.

The program has given students a taste of courses offered at TAFE including Early Childhood Education, Construction, Hospitality, Automotive and Beauty Therapy.

Cowra High School would like to thank Cowra TAFE staff for providing the students an opportunity to extend their skillset and for organising engaging activities throughout.

Movember

Congratulations to Cowra High School's Team Movember.  Over $4000 was raised during the month and this has been the most raised since joining the Foundation in 2006.

Fundraising for the Target Wishing Tree

The Christmas Spirit is alive and well!! The Learning Hub organised a morning tea for staff on Monday 17 December.  Over $260 was raised to go towards the Target Wishing Tree to help brighten Christmas for less fortunate families.

Senior Student Leadership Group Fundraiser

Vice Captain Lochie Wilson is pictured presenting Helen Horton from the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre as she receives her custom art piece by artist Luke Mallie.

Helen was drawn as the winner of the fundraiser run this term by the Cowra High School Senior Student Leadership Group.  A total of $975 was raised for the purchase of Whitegoods for the Cowra Domestic Violence House.  Congratulations to Helen - her support is much appreciated and she truly deserves the artwork which will no doubt hang with pride in her home.
