From the Principal

The weather is causing as much confusion as the daylight hours but I love it. Spring is in the air and so is planning for 2020.

This week my senior leadership spent time conferencing and planning the goals and targets for our primary and secondary settings next year.

Allow me to introduce our executive teams:

Primary

Chris Beare - Campus Principal

Marcus Hastings - Assistant Principal

Gemma Albress - Leading Teacher - Teaching and Learning

Laura Heim - Learning Specialist - Literacy

Rob Zull - Learning Specialist - Student Agency

Chris Kilmartin - Learning Specialist - Year 6/Positive Climate

Secondary

Bill Panas - Campus Principal

Rebecca Sutton - Leading Teacher - Student Wellbeing .6

Renee Short - Leading Teacher - Teaching and Learning

Marcus Finlay - Learning Specialist - STEM .6

Annette Spence - Learning Specialist - Pedagogy

Heath Pritchard - Leading Teacher - Senior School .6

Our Year 6 students have returned from a tour of the Great Ocean Road, travelling to Warrnambool and Port Fairy while visiting The Otway Fly, Lockhart Gorge, Flagstaff Maritime Museum, Tower Hill and the wind farm. I expect we will see evidence of this wonderful opportunity in the Inspire Magazine at the end of term. Thank you to Katie, Chris, Brett and Dylan who accompanied the group.

I would like to remind families that when we ask that phones do not come to camp it is expected you comply as this causes conflict and sadness for families who do the right things. Respect is one of our values.

Tonight our Year 2's have their long awaited sleepover. Thank you parents and staff for your huge effort to make this happen. I look forward to hearing your stories.

This term is jam-packed with excursions and events so please ensure you’re vigilant with notes and instructions. A list of new excursion notices is sent out each week in the newsletter.

Our 2020 preps will be starting their transition next week and we send a warm welcome to them all. It's an exciting time of the year as they begin familiarising themselves with the school environment.

Students in Year 3 & 4 and Year 8 & 9 have been briefed on leadership opportunities for 2020 and we look forward to reading their expressions of interest and interviewing shortlisted students.

Please be supportive of your students, encourage them to put themselves forward, identify their strengths and to think about what they will bring to and take from these opportunities.

Just a reminder it is not okay for adults to approach students for any reason. If you have a concern we remind you to speak with your child’s teacher. This keeps things fair.

Share some time with your family or friends over the weekend and remember to be kind.
