This has been another busy time in the Mission calendar. At the end of last week Year 10 participated in their Reflection Day on the theme of Journey. With the help of Socceroo Captain Paul Wade, students embraced the concept of journey and the importance of building resilience as we face what we called those 'Full Stops' in life. In introducing Paul, it would have been enough to give a biography of his great achievements in sport; however, it is actually off the field that I believe Paul has achieved his success. As a sufferer of epilepsy and having undergone three very challenging operations that have left him with a memory disability, he continues to have a successful career in the Media and as an Inspirational Speaker. My thanks to Mr Pawlak for his organisation of the day and the staff who supported the men on the day.
Today Years 5 and 6 celebrated their Bible and Pledge Liturgy. This is an important celebration, particularly in this year of Gospel Spirituality as the young men are called to bring the message of the Gospel to their own lives and their relationships with others.
I am pleased to announce that we will be holding our first Mass in the College Chapel on Tuesday 28th March at 8am. Students and their families are most welcome to attend. The Chapel is almost complete and we look forward to Mass every fortnight on Tuesdays at 8am.

Project Compassion - Pancake Friday
Project Compassion continues to gain momentum as does the pancake and hash brown BBQ on Friday mornings run by the Edmund Rice Society and Year 12 leaders. Last Friday we sold a record over 300 items at the BBQ, so come along this Friday morning and be part of the fun and fundraising for Caritas Australia.
Congratulations to 6 Blue and 6 Gold for reaching the $505 homeroom challenge target. 6 Blue has won a pizza and soft drink party for the last day of term, and 6 Gold have won a soft drink each for the last day of term also. These prizes are donated by the Edmund Rice Society and they have offered up a 3rd and 4th place prize also, so keep collecting.
The Edmund Rice Society
The Edmund Rice Society have been very busy this term. Each week they have had a lunchtime meeting, on Friday mornings they run the Project Compassion BBQ, and now on Tuesday afternoons they are working after school in the woodwork room making skateboard decks for the Haven Education Centre Terrigal as well as indigenous jigsaw puzzles for St Mary’s Bowraville and St Joseph’s Walgett. These efforts ensure that our three ongoing partnerships with these schools are continuing and making a real difference to the lives of others. Thank you for your efforts and keep up the great work.
