Dear Parents and Players,
Congratulations to all teams for their efforts on the weekend. Team of the Week was the 15As who managed to post their first win of the season with a dominant 5-3 victory. Player of the Week goes to Dermott Beattie who backed up for the 1st XI and managed to score two goals with his first two touches! An outstanding effort.
This weekend is a busy home weekend with the majority of fixtures against St Spyridon College. Good luck to all teams.
Please note there are no games on the long weekend.

FOOTBALL CLUB NEWS
The teams are now settled into the season and we are seeing some consistent performances across the age groups. If you think your team needs help in a particular area let us know as we have technical coaches available to assist your coach and team to focus on weaknesses at training.
We are still seeking parents to send in photos of their boys in action for the ‘Full Time’ publication but please be mindful of only including photos of your son, or other boys with their parents’ consent. Send your photos to footballspx@gmail.com - save this to your phone and upload those photos as soon as you take them. This week’s 'Teams of the Week' are 3rds, 4ths and 13B and parents of boys in these teams are asked to catch some shots of the boys in action and send them through by Sunday afternoon.

Supporters Day this weekend
This Saturday at Oxford Falls will be “Supporters Day”, where all students are encouraged to spend as much time at the grounds as they can, watching and supporting their College mates. There will be a free sausage sizzle and drink for all students who stay and support the 1st XV at 1:30pm and similar incentives during the 1st XI Football in the morning. Please get involved in this initiative led by the student leaders and winter sport captains.
SPX Rugby Physio
In addition to the first aid officers, SPX Rugby have secured the services of a rugby physiotherapist for the remainder of the season. The physio will be operating on Chaplin No.1 Oval at home games and on the main oval at Away venues. All St Pius X College students can access the physio before matches for strapping and after matches if they have injuries that need assessment. The physio will also work with the first aid officers and attend to any on-field injuries that occur when required. I ask that players please utilise this service so that diagnosis and management of injuries can be improved at the College.
SPX Rugby Raffle
Last week all rugby players at the College received a book of raffle tickets to sell. The raffle will be drawn at the SPX Rugby Dinner on Friday 16th June. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10. The raffle raises money that goes directly back into the rugby program to help fund initiatives like external coaches, tour contributions, filming of matches, physio costs, referee courses etc. All tickets need to be returned, sold or unsold, by Friday 9th June. Tickets should be placed inside an envelope and returned to the Silver Box near the College Fees Office with the student's name clearly marked on the front of the envelope and the correct money inside. Students who sell a whole book of tickets will go into the draw to win a $250 gift voucher. Thanks in advance for your support.

FROM THE RUGBY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
A hugely competitive day! Our games against St Augustine’s have become really competitive and in some cases are a benchmark for where we are as a rugby school. The A v A contests at 13/14 and 15 age groups were titanic contests. The quality of rugby played by all our teams was terrific to watch. The 14As put in a winning performance built on character and technique. Lachie Onslow’s consecutive turnovers in the second half led to the final try which gave 14As the win. Thrilling to watch.
However our performances are very much team efforts. Watching our 13As move the ball around the field is captivating from players so young. The 15Bs are driven by a coach's passion and support. Players will always respond to passion and sincerity. The 13Bs quite simply play “the SPX way”, with the opposition finding it hard to get the ball from them. Our style of play demands total involvement from everyone. The 13Bs, 15Bs and Opens 2nds all had “quality wins” with commitment and enthusiasm being solid foundations for good performance. SPX 1sts again had opportunities to win the game but failed to take them. Finding that final red zone “killer instinct” will get them home this week.
Saturday we entertain Kinross and we will need more of the above to maintain our winning style.

A great day of tennis was had by everyone! All teams played well and fought hard against a tough competition. Teams 1 to 9 all had wins against Redlands. Team 10 went down to the line, finishing with a draw on both sets and games. Special mention to both Thom Hardman and Angus Vardy who barely let their opposing players get away with a single point during their sets. Congratulations to our First Five for coming away with a well-deserved win this week during some exciting games.
