Deputy Principal's News

Dear Parents,

First and foremost I wish to preface that the final few weeks of school have been AMAZING, with more to come. In recent weeks, our school has been been in Celebration mode from the student achievements and accomplishments, the official opening of the ‘School In the Sky’ and last but by no means least our School Production - Mary Poppins Jr.

Last week we officially opened the 'School In the Sky'.  It was lovely to stop and reflect on the building and its journey and the many people who made this dream come to life!  We truly are so fortunate to have such a remarkable school.

Looking back at the year, I can wholeheartedly say how blessed I am to have commenced my journey as a Deputy Principal here at St James. We have a wonderful teaching and learning school community.  St James truly feels like home! I thank the students for bringing excitement and energy into the school each day, without your enthusiasm St James would not be the place it is today. For our Year 6 students, I will be sad to see you go, and wish you all the best for secondary school and beyond. To the parents at James, thankyou for being so welcoming this year.  I appreciate the many different ways you all contribute to your children's learning. To the Staff at St James, words cannot express the gratitude I have for each and everyone of you. Each day you arrive at work filled with enthusiasm and excitement for the day ahead. To Brendan, thank you! You have made my first year as a Deputy Principal a truly amazing experience.  Thank you for being such a great role model and inspiration. To Ange and Imelda, thank you for keeping the ‘engine’ running! And last but not least, thank you to Fr. Martin for leading our school and parish communities in such a pastoral and caring way.

Reflection:

You may wish to pray the prayer above together as a family on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.   As a family take turns in sharing a special Christmas memory.

School Reports

We are quickly approaching the end of Semester 2.  By now, classroom and specialist teachers have finalised assessing student knowledge and understanding in order to write reports.   Each student will receive a formal written school report late 13th of December.

We will be using the nForma Parent Portal to electronically share your child/ren’s academic report/s with you.  All parents will need to refer back to their Semester 1 login details. If you are new to the school this semester, you will receive a Create Access email from

no-reply@nforma.com.au (so please check your spam if you do not receive it).

Following the prompts on the email will guide you in creating access and setting up your login details, thus enabling access to all academic reports for your child which are currently on nForma.  Important to note, that once your child leaves St James, his/her academic reports will be archived and you will no longer have direct access via the Nforma Parent portal. Therefore nForma advises all parents/carers to download a copy of all academic reports via the portal and print them off for future reference.  The school will always have access to all archived reports.

In order for the Semester 2 reports to be shared digitally, it is imperative that the school have your up to date contact details, in particular your email addresses.  If you have recently updated or changed your email address, can you please update your details on Caremonkey and inform Imelda or Ange at info@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au

If there are any queries, please do not hesitate in contacting the school.
