Art and Design students at PCW are well and truly into the year and enjoying their classes. This semester Year 8 Art students are exploring how artists use the elements of tone, texture and form in 2D and 3D artworks. Students have created some relief portraits using various tones and textures of neutral papers and card. They are also learning how to compare artworks from different cultures as they take on the role of art critics for the Age.
Year 11 Studio Arts students have been exploring their ideas and experimenting with abstract painting techniques, creating expressive, textured surfaces from which to develop their own unique style and ideas.
Year 8 Food Tech students are being introduced to the kitchen and its equipment whilst learning basic kitchen safety. They have started to use the cook’s knife and the vegetable knife to hone their cutting skills.
Year 9 Food Studies students are exploring the cuisine from various migrant cultures and how their individual cultures have enriched Australian society by contributing to our diverse eating habits. So far the girls have created crepes inspired by French cuisine and healthy burgers inspired by Germany and North America.
Year 10 Food Tech students have been developing their food preparation and baking skills. They will be catering for a number of events at the school throughout the year and exploring various career opportunities in the culinary field.
