Student Wellbeing Report

Uniform at PCW

Why wearing School Uniform is so important:

  • To help build self-confidence, pride and a sense of connection with the PCW community;
  • It creates a sense of equality among students;
  • A clear dress code that sets boundaries helps students to see school as a professional, working environment; and
  • It reduces many distractions associated with personal appearance.

Exciting adjustment to the Uniform Policy

Melbourne weather can be unpredictable, and we have certainly experienced some cold days lately.  In consultation with PCW's school community, we are excited to advise that the college will now permit students to wear either their summer or winter uniforms throughout the 2020 school year.

Of course, this is on the condition that students wear their uniforms correctly and do not mix and match the summer and winter uniforms, and PE uniform should still only be worn on days of PE lessons.

Our year 12 students were thrilled about this policy change, and we expect the rest of our students will be too.  Please encourage your daughter to wear her full winter uniform on cold days as House and school trip hoodies and long sleeve tops are not in the uniform policy and will be confiscated, regardless of the weather conditions.

Preventative Wellbeing

Term 1 is jam-packed with a variety of whole-school events that promote teamwork and collaboration, creativity, success outside the classroom, resilience, and connectedness to our PCW community.

It is always a joy to watch students support and lift each other up in House events, and compete as one House team.  Lucrative House Cup points are also up for grabs throughout the year with the winning House being championed as the ULTIMATE House Cup winners of 2020 at the end of the year.  With Music Fest and Swimming Carnival points being added, the current leader board now looks like this:

1st

Loyola (325 points)

2nd

Kostka (305 points)

3rd

Xavier (240 points)

4th

Nagle (145 points)

Next week’s Athletics Carnival could change everything, so it’s GAME ON HOUSES!

A further element to our preventative wellbeing program is our camps program which starts with Year 9 camp after the Labour Day long weekend.  The Year 9 group will head off to Tidal River at Wilson's Prom for a three night, outdoor camping and activities based experience, which will be both challenging and rewarding for the students.  Our focus on the camp is leadership and organisation, with students having to coordinate their own groups for equipment and food.  With some world class walks, lots of fresh air and surfing in Norman Bay, it will be an exceptional bonding and growth experience for our Year 9s.
