Physical Education

We’ve had a fantastic start to the year in PE. In the first week, we spent time learning how to safely use the amazing new fitness equipment on the oval. We also played a variety of team building and cooperative games, strengthening the positive relationships within our classes. We met our Prep classes for the first time during week 2 and we took this opportunity to explore the playground. All students learnt how to safely use the equipment including the monkey bars, slides and firemen poles.

For the remainder of term one the Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students will be focusing on their fundamental movement skills including throwing, catching, bouncing, running, jumping, skipping, striking and kicking. The Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students will be participating in a Softball/Tee Ball unit and an Athletics unit.

During week 3, the Year 5 and 6 students will be participating in their first round of Interschool Sport. Mount View Gold will be competing against Mt Scopus, Mount View Blue will be competing against Glendal and Mount View Red will be competing against Essex Heights. We wish all teams the best of luck!

Trials for the Mount View District Tennis Team are well underway. We’ve had an overwhelming response with over 100 students signing up to participate in the selection process. Trials have been held before school at the Glenvale Tennis Club. Thank you to all of the students who participated in the trials, the standard was of a very high level. The team of 6 (3 boys and 3 girls) will be announced in the coming weeks.
