Mobile Phones and Devices
We want students to be able to use mobile phones, devices and other forms of technology in a responsible and appropriate way. The school's mobile phone and devices policy is available on the school website.
Expectations:
1. Mobile phones and devices off and away or locked in the class storeroom during the day.
2. Mobile phones and devices can be used for educational and regulation purposes with teacher permission.
If students are unable to follow the staff request of putting the device away, parents/carers will be called to collect the device.
Students will be banned for three weeks from bringing their device if they are unable to follow the school's expectations about mobile phone and device use. Students will then be given the opportunity to bring their device to school and use it appropriately.
Transport
As the school has grown in size and Anson Street has got busier as it is the direct access to the Orange Hospital, we trialled moving some buses and taxis to the back entrance on Lords Place.
Over the past few months, parents/carers have used the back entrance to drop off and pick up students to help ease the traffic load on Anson Street. This has created some safety concerns at back transport.
Over the past few weeks, we have collected data and made observations to come up with the best safety plan for students entering and exiting the school.
What’s New?
To ensure the safety of students and parents/carers, we will be dividing the back transport area into two sections. Students who travel on buses, taxis or who have low mobility will use the drive-through bay, while parents/ carers who park can pick their child up from the area near the storage container.
What’s the Same?
Students will continue to have their name marked off on the roll at the end of the day. Front transport and front parent/carer pickup remain the same.
Times
School Hours: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Students are expected to arrive between 8:45am and 9:00am so that class can start on time. Students arriving earlier are supervised in the Cola area near the hall from 8:30am – 8:45am.
The end of day music will play at 3:00pm and students leave the class and move to their designated transport areas. Please be patient as students and staff need time to move to these areas at the end of the day.
Front Transport
Buses, taxis and parents/carers with students who are less mobile are able to drive through the bay and staff will assist your child/ward in entering the school. Front transport is open from 8:45am – 9:00am.
Front parent/carer pick up
The front gate is opened for parents/carers at 2:50pm and adults are encouraged to wait for their child in the Cola area. Please take the time to read the P&C notice board for current events and information. Students will arrive at the Cola area shortly after 3:00pm and their names will be marked off on departure.
Back Transport
All vehicles are asked to drive through to drop students off. Parents/carers are asked to remain with their car and staff will help students unload and move safely into the school. Back transport is open from 8:45am – 9:00am in the morning and between 3:00pm and 3:15pm in the afternoon.
Back parent/carer pick up
Parents/carers are asked to park on Lords Place and can wait in the area near the container. Students will arrive shortly after 3:00pm and their names will be marked off on departure. Parents/carers are asked not to walk in front or across the drive-through bay.
Please Note:
- If students arrive on the main site after 9:00am please use the administration office entry.
- During wet weather, all transport moves to the front. Parents/carers need to park and walk students into the school.
Campus Drop off and Pick up
For the safety of all students, the front gate into the Campus will be closed between 8:45am and 3:15pm and all parents/carers are asked to park in Anson Street and walk into the Campus to drop off or pick up their child/ward.
