Snapshots from Springvale
It is with great pleasure that I get to put the Acting Assistant Principal hat on for a few weeks and get to share with you all the latest updates and highlights from our Springvale Campus. The past fortnight has been action packed and filled with special events and fabulous learning in all year levels.
Last week our MLC students enjoyed a three-day camp at Gundiwindi Lodge. They engaged in fun activities and teamwork challenges which enabled the students to further develop their relationships with peers and teachers outside of the classroom. It was wonderful to see our year 3/4 students develop their independence away from home, as well as support and collaborate with each other during activities. Camp is all about trying new things and challenging ourselves and all students did just that - feeding animals for the first time and going to the very top of the giant swing.
Our SLC students from both campuses are attending camp at Phillip Island this week and we can’t wait to hear all about it upon their return.
On Friday 2nd of June, our JLC students had a sensational day visiting the Scienceworks Museum. They explored how science works through hands-on, interactive exhibits which caused many wide-eyed looks and inspired many questions. I hear that one of the most fascinating exhibits was ‘Illuminate’ which was all about the fastest traveller in the universe – light. What a fun day it was!
Back at school, all learning centres have been busy engaging in lots of fun learning, from practising their sounds to representing fractions and even learning how to make muffins.
As we near the end of another successful term, the teaching teams have taken the time to reflect on and celebrate the amazing growth and learning achievements of our students. To say that they are proud would be an understatement, as we are sure you will be when you receive your child’s Semester 1 achievement report. Over the coming weeks the teaching teams will get together to plan new teaching and learning for Term 3 that will continue to build upon our students’ successes and provide new opportunities for growth.
I wish all of our staff and families a safe, relaxing and warm winter holiday, filled with lots of fun activities with loved ones and some lazy pyjama days too!
