We are learning to read and interpret scaled instruments to measure length.

VOCABULARY

Length:

The term used for identifying how long things are, or how tall, or how far apart they are. 

Centimetre:

A measure of length that is approximately the width of a fingernail. 1cm = 10mm

Metre:

A measure of length.

1 metre = 100 centimetres

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to estimate how tall each family member is and write it down. Then they can measure with a measuring tape to get an accurate measurement and compare it to their estimate. Were they close?
