INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

Dear SMPPS families

Some exciting updates since our inaugural Wellbeing and Inclusion survey!

FAMILY IN FOCUS

35 families expressed an interest in the free Family in Focus Program being run by Port Phillip Community Group. The Family in Focus program is a series of fiveintroductory workshops covering a range of topics. We now have confirmation that the program is going ahead.

This is a public community program, and I have found out that there is a stand-alone session next Monday with 10 spots remaining. However, as it is food-based and short notice, the food purchases have already been made. So it’s possible the remaining spots may not be able to cater for dietary requirements. Nonetheless if you are interested and think you can make it, please let me know via the form and I can pass on your details and Raelene the organiser will be in touch.

In Term 3 there will be a series of 4 workshops. See flyers for the content. The dates and order are still tentative as tutors are being locked in. There are 20 spots. These will take place in our staff room from 9 – 11:30am. Depending on uptake, there may be attendees from outside the school joining also as this is a community program. All sessions will be fun, interactive, and include a generous morning tea. Due to my feedback, the digital literacy course has been switched to a cybersafety focus. However, if you would like support with digital literacy (how to use technology to support your child/engage with school etc), please indicate in the form.

TENTATIVE DATES

  • Tue 11 July        Session 2
  • Tue 18 July        Session 3
  • Tue 25 July        Session 4
  • Tue 1 August    Session 5

Whilst the sessions are free, obviously we would like to ensure we are making the most of the available spots and able to confirm a good level of participation throughout the series of workshops. Please could you have a good read of the attached flyer and overview and please complete this quick form by the end of term to register your interest. Once dates are confirmed, I will contact you to confirm registration.

CHRISSIE DAVIES

The lovely Chrissie is proposing Wednesday 12th July session for parents and proposing this one, “What do you see when you look at me?”. In the survey, the majority of respondents preferred a recorded webinar, unfortunately due to copyright, this is not possible. Therefore I would like to propose 2 options and will go with the majority:

  1. Hybrid event – in person at school on 12th July 5 – 6pm and broadcasting live as a webinar. I think this would be really worthwhile as she is incredibly bubbly and engaging (Jess and I went to see her last week!) and it will really bring a great community spirit to the event, whilst still allowing adults to watch at home.
  2. Webinar – 7:30pm – 8:30pm – date TBC.

Please complete this expression of interest form to help us plan!

Have a wonderful sunny weekend!
