Visual Art Excursion

Artful Encounters

Our recent Visual Art excursion to the Art Gallery of Western Australia and Perth Contemporary Art Institute was a resounding success! Students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant art scene of Perth CBD and gain inspiration for their upcoming Semester Two artworks.

The excursion kicked off with students exploring urban spaces in the city, where they were able to sketch and capture photographs to fuel their creative endeavours. Next, we had the privilege of viewing the highly anticipated Pulse Perspectives 2023 exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

The highlight of the show was the inclusion of a speech by Felix Lawson, a graduate from the class of 2022, whose exceptional work was selected to be part of this prestigious exhibition. Felix shared his rewarding and exciting experiences as a Visual Art student, inspiring the cohort with his journey.

To further enrich our understanding of what a Visual Art degree can offer, we were treated to a guided tour by the knowledgeable staff at Perth Contemporary Art Institute (PICA). The boys found this experience incredibly inspiring and rewarding, gaining insights into the diverse possibilities that a Visual Art degree holds.

Overall, the excursion was a resounding success, providing our students with a firsthand experience of the vibrant art scene in Perth. We are confident that the knowledge and inspiration gained from this excursion will greatly contribute to their upcoming Semester Two artworks.
