Year 12 Presentation
This presentation involves a cross section of boys from Year 12 sharing their learning journey and pathway with the Year 10’s to give them an idea of what to expect from the different pathways and the different areas that our boys are aiming for. This will be a short presentation from each student and then a panel Q&A experience.
The following Year 12’s have volunteered to be involved:
Callum McInnes, Lucas Marra, Taj Egan, Julian Munns, Thomas Mortensen, Zaid Buckland, Riley Ozane, Jared Henderson and Damien Chikwaka.
MOB Session
This session is run by Jeremy Logan, the MOB Liaison Officer. He organises for recent MOB to come back and share what they are doing now and how they got there. They offer some great insights for the boys about the things they wish they knew when they were at school and what it is like in the real world.
Explore a Career Morning
The concept here is that students will be actively engaged in activities from different career areas and have the opportunity to speak to people working in these areas. Students have chosen between these opportunities:
Fitness Industry
Hannes Holly from Active 4 Life will take a group through a 30 minute personal training session and explain what is involved in being a Personal Trainer and the training required to get into this industry.
|
Aviation - Drone flying
This group will be learning to operate a mini drone and learning about the increasing use of drones and automation in industry.
|
STEM Careers Scitech will run this presentation. Welcome to the future – where science, technology, engineering and maths are essential to both our work and day-to-day activities than ever before. Showcasing how our work lives will change, this presentation explores how students can harness their STEM skills for maximum enjoyment, well-being and – perhaps most importantly – their career opportunities. |
Hospitality
Learn to make a great coffee on our very own UBean coffee cart. Learn about the opportunities in the hospitality industry. |
Horticulture
Learn about careers in the horticulture industry with Costa Group.
Make a mushroom tower then cook some mushrooms for a tasty burger.
|
SES
Learn about career opportunities with the State Emergency Services. Find out more about what they do and the training required to be involved. |
VR Experience
Use a VR headset to explore a range of artificial worlds, moving around and within it, and interacting with virtual features, items or people to learn more about career options.
Experiences on offer: ISS, Frog dissection, open heart surgery, sound stage, ocean acidification, cataclysmic earth, Nature treks, tilt brush, ecosphere
|
Careers Carousel
This event involves members of the public coming in to speak to small groups of Year 10’s about what they do, their career journey and how to get into the field. Each group spends 9 minutes with each presenter and then the groups rotate to the next speaker.
We are very lucky to have the following presenters coming in to speak to the boys:
