Foundation Unit

Hello lovely Foundation families!

We’re keeping very busy in the Foundation classrooms with the continuation of our poetry unit in Literacy.

We’ve continued to learn about different craft techniques authors use, by looking at precise verbs (doing words) last week through Alison Lester’s stories and learning about alliteration (a group of words with the same beginning sound) this week.

The Foundation students have had lots of fun experimenting with alliteration - writing fantastic sentences including their names and lots of WOW words. There are some examples below!

We’ve also begun to learn about addition in maths, with students practising how to add two numbers together in lots of different ways! This has involved using different concrete materials (like unifix cubes and dominos), practising writing equations and fun playing addition games.

Finally, we are just a day away from our 100 Days of School Celebration. We cannot wait to celebrate everything our students have achieved so far, and cannot wait to see some fantastic 100 year-old outfits!
