Year 12 Retreat
Anglesea
On 15 & 16 June, the Year 12 students and teachers partook in a spiritual journey on the coast of Victoria at Camp Wilkin, Anglesea. The students spent two days away from school reflecting on their spirituality and wellbeing. Students took part in a range of activities including a beach walk, "fashion" show and a liturgy. The retreat was a reflective experience provoking a sense of unity and solidarity, strengthening relationships and mindsets.
The Year 12 Retreat was an amazing and joyful experience for the Year 12's to reflect on themselves and spend time away from the stressful VCE, VET and VCAL schedule. Kicking off with an eventful fashion show, both the students and teachers came together and had a blast creating extravagant dresses out of paper for selected models, which in turn immediately bonded the cohort together and brought out everyone’s creativeness. This was a memorable and entertaining activity for the students and teachers.
Alongside this, the walks to the beach enabled many Year 12's to explore the natural environment around us and appreciate the people that we surround ourselves with, as the beach created a calming and relaxing atmosphere. A large group of committed students and teachers walked to the beach and saw the sunrise, taking photos with friends.
Friendships were made stronger as both students and teachers contributed to the planned activities that brought harmony and joy. Towards the end, although everyone felt tired and drained, we all carried special and memorable events about time with friends, hoarding the hot chocolate to the point it became out of stock, having teachers be a runway model, seeing kangaroos and the sunrise.
