ITALIAN
Ciao a tutti, hello everyone!
Welcome back to Term 3 as we’re all excited to learn Italian for the first time at Debney Meadows. I’m so excited about what is in store for students this term.
Foundation & Year 1 Focus
This Term Bottlebrush will learn how to greet others and they will get to know Pinocchio, the most famous Italian story for children. We will sing songs to learn about body parts and colours. We have been learning how to count from 1 – 10. Through storytelling, students will learn and practise new vocabulary.
Year 2 and 3 Focus
This Term the Sturt Desert Peas will have a language focus called ‘About Me’. Through this we will learn how to greet others and how to introduce ourselves in Italian. We will draw, identify and introduce members of our family. We will continue to build on language so we can use a four-word phrase to say where we live and share where we study.
Year 4, 5,6 Focus
This Term Eucalyptus will have a language focus called ‘Giochiamo Insieme’ – Let’s play together. In this unit, students will learn and use Italian to play a range of games. They will learn the language needed to invite someone to play a game with them, to take turns, to ask and answer questions and apply their knowledge of numbers in Italian. Through warm ups they have also been practising how to greet others, how to introduce ourselves in Italian , count and we explore vocabulary our children want to learn.
Ciao,
Sonia De Simone
