Sturt Desert Peas Update

Rhiannon Brolly

This term, the Year Three's welcomed the Year Two's to Sturt Deserts Peas. As a class, we have been working on our class expectations, growth mindset and how we can work together as a class. All students in Sturt Desert Peas have been working hard to learn and grow in their new environment. They should all be very proud of the learning they have achieved so far.

In Reading, we have been learning about non-fiction texts. We have also been focusing on choosing a just right book so students can become more confident readers. In Writing, we have been learning about information reports. An information report states fact about a topic. Some of the topics our class are writing about includes Basketball, Rabbits, Video Games and Trains. In Mathematics, we have been learning about Multiplication and Division. Students have been learning how to multiply by 2, 3, 4 and 5.

In Inquiry, we have been learning about Sustainability. Sustainability is when we look after the planet for our future. Students have been learning about the importance of sorting rubbish and recycling. On the 10th of August, we will be going to CERES Environmental Park. At CERES, students are learning about the importance of recycling and how they can look after our planet.

I am looking forward to taking Sturt Desert Peas on an excursion as a 2/3 class. We had such a fantastic time at Sovereign Hill, Ramla and Abdulmalik even got to hold a gold bar!
