Principals Message

Koreena Carlton

Welcome back to the start of another exciting and eventful term for our students, staff and school community. The students have settled back into school really well, as they always do! We hope that everyone had a relaxing break and are looking forward to all of the learning opportunities Term 3 brings.

100 Days of Learning in Prep!

On Friday 29 July our Bottlebrush students celebrated 100 consecutive days of learning! On this day students participated in fun rotational activities based around the number 100 - they will make crowns, complete a range of tasks, and get active in celebrating 100 days of school. A massive congratulations to our Bottlebrush students and staff, we hope you enjoyed celebrating this special milestone.

Year 3-6 Camp – The Portsea Camp

Our students will be attending The Portsea Camp in the last wek of twerm 3. The Portsea Camp is ideally situated on Port Phillip Bay in Portsea, with direct beach access, a full size oval, high ropes courses, lots of canoes, sports equipment available to hire and wonderful northerly views to Melbourne on the horizon. (Take care – it’s easy to take your eye off the ball as you catch a glimpse of dolphins, ships or ferries in the waters in front of you!)Some of the activities that the children will be participating in:*High Ropes* Giant Swing* Flying Fox* Orienteering* Hut Building* Beach & Water ActivitiesChildren stay in either dormitory or en-suite rooms. Adults are always immediately on hand. Providing everyone with maximum energy requires a substantial and nutritional diet. Fresh fruit and fluids are always available, salads or cooked vegetables accompany all meals.

Uniform

Students and parents are reminded that all students are required to wear the full school uniform each day, in accordance with the School Uniform Policy. We are seeing an increased number of students attending school in black tracksuit pants, and non school jumpers and tops. If you require assistance with school uniform please contact Jess or Tim. We ask parents to please enforce this expectation at home.

Face Masks

The Victorian Department of Health strongly recommends that face masks are worn in indoor settings. As a result, all students aged 8 and over and all staff in all schools across Victoria are encouraged to wear masks when in class (except where removing a mask is necessary for clear communication) from now to the end of winter. Students won’t be required or expected to wear masks when outdoors, and this expectation won’t stop student participation in the full range of school activities, including music, sport and performances.

Your support in explaining to your child or children the importance of this simple step will help keep schools as safe as possible. We also ask that you make sure your child (or children) takes a mask to school and wears it if they are travelling on public transport, or collects a mask when they arrive at school.

We all appreciate how important it is for students to be back at school. This action will help make sure as many students and staff as possible are protected from COVID and other winter illness. Thank for your help with this collective effort to keep our communities safe and healthy.
