Principal's Report

Student achievement

Recently we held a whole school assembly to recognize students who have received multiple PERMAH awards in semester one. It was great to see so many students receiving these awards and I congratulate all of those whose name was called on the day.

This week, I also had the pleasure of witnessing students from across years 7 to 10 engaging in the Indonesian cultural day for our local primary school that is organized by Bu Devathas. The visiting students and their teachers had a lot of fun on the day and this was largely due to wonderful support and encouragement provided by our students. Terima Kasih!

The work that many of our students do to support students in some of our local feeder schools has been really well recognized of late and I have had numerous principals from the primary schools, approach me at network meetings to tell me how wonderful our students have been to have visiting their schools or supporting our students. This really shows our school value of COMMUNITY which we recognize means working beyond the school gates to support people where we can.

PERMAH Award Winners

Kwon Lee Dow Young Scholars program

The Kwon Lee Dow scholarship program runs each and every year and provides successful Year 11 students with access to activities and resources to support their aspirations in their studies in VCE. It also provides an advantage to those students who may be aspiring to go on to study at the University of Melbourne in the future.

I have seen many students go through this program from schools across all networks in Melbourne and have seen, firsthand the advantage that this program gives to the students who engage with it.

I very strongly recommend that any students in the current Year 10 cohort who are keen to ensure that they achieve their very best and are aspiring to attend University after leaving school to apply. The school has to endorse the application and can only endorse up to five so places are limited.

The University of Melbourne’s Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program is open for applications to students from all Victorian and select interstate border schools.Offering access to exclusive UniMelb events and academic enrichment activities for two years, the program provides a taste of student life first-hand, as well as the opportunities to build strong peer networks and a supportive community throughout their final years of secondary school and during the transition to university.
