Thank you Morag Fraser
Morag Fraser has had a lifelong commitment to Catholic Education and has provided her generous service over many years to Kildare Ministries. Morag will conclude her term as Director of the Kildare Education Ministries Board at the end of the year.
Morag has journeyed with Kildare Ministries in the time leading up to its establishment and as an inaugural Board Director of Kildare Education Ministries. Morag, a proud past pupil of Kilbreda College, served as a member and as Chair of its Stewardship Council, commencing in 1996. In this role with other Stewardship Council members, principals and leadership teams she was part of the consultation by Australian Brigidine Secondary Schools Governance Research Group exploring options for the future of Brigidine Secondary Schools in Australia. Later, from 2014 to the present Morag has served on the Stewardship Council of Kildare College.
In 2010 Morag and Louise Cleary csb, who were both in the US at that time, travelled to Ottawa to consult Fr Frank Morrisey, OMI, about the canonical framework that was needed for a Public Juridic Person (PJP) to be approved by Rome. (This trip is a story of learning, mishap and fun in itself!) Morag’s perspicacious questions and probing led to many insights that assisted in the writing of Kildare Ministries Petition. Subsequently Morag played a significant part in writing and refining, and redrafting the Vision and Mission section of the Petition. Thanks to Morag’s skills this was a sharp piece of writing gaining the approval of the CICLSAL committee when it was presented in Rome.
Over and beyond this generous service of Kildare Ministries, Morag’s appreciation and love of the Brigidine story is a guiding motivation for her generous involvement. Morag’s clear-sighted knowledge and appreciation of its founding values is a beacon, and her passion for its preservation and authentic translation into today’s culture is a gift to Kildare Education Ministries.
Morag played a key role as a Director of Kildare Education Ministries for 9 years. With a mission of building a more just and inclusive education community where all may flourish, Morag engaged in this task whole-heartedly.
Generously agreeing to be the Kildare Education Ministries representative for Kildare College, Holden Hill, Morag regularly travelled (pre-Covid) to Adelaide, providing strong support of two successive principals and the school community in both challenging and ordinary times as well as rejoicing in the school’s joys, ambitions, growth, and creativity.
Morag’s generosity continued with her commitment on the Kildare Education Ministries Board’s Policy and Governance Committee, bringing a clear-eyed, fine-tuned wisdom to all the complexities and perplexities of policy writing and refining.
The Brigidine Sisters and Kildare Ministries are indeed blessed to have such a friend walking ‘the path as we’ve made’ over these years. We value and thank you for contributing your personal qualities to the development and growth of Kildare Education Ministries.
